Drug Information
- What information about the drug is provided and why is it important?
- The drug information provided covers important notes about the drug you searched for, a description of the drug and its use, and answers to common questions such as potential side effects and dosage instructions. This information is an important supplemental way you can learn more about the drug you are inquiring about. Remember, this information is not intended to take the place of your doctor or other health care professional. It is a supplemental educational resource to help provide you with the drug information you are looking for.
- How can I personalize the drug information and what will I see if I do so?
- You can personalize the drug information provided by selecting any of the optional information that is applicable to you personally. For instance, if you select "pediatric," from the drop-down menu in the optional "Age" section, any relevant information about the drug you are searching on for children will be highlighted in red in the drug information leaflet provided.
- Where else can I get this drug information?
- The drug information displayed in this application is also provided to Merck-Medco plan members with any new or renewal prescriptions dispensed from one of our Merck-Medco Rx Services pharmacies. In addition, drug information can be obtained from a special toll-free number noted on the drug information leaflet enclosed in your mail service prescription package or at the bottom of the online drug information.
- How should I dispose of medications that are no longer necessary or have expired?
- You may contact your local state environmental agencies or state board of pharmacy if you have concerns about getting rid of a particular unused medication. Since legal requirements can vary from state to state, you should contact your local state authority if you have questions about medication disposal. For a list of state agencies, see the Boards of Pharmacy list on the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP*) web site.
